The little chainsaw that could...

We have definitely been putting our time to good use lately! We've been training hard, updating the AxeWomen website, taking new pictures & videos and filling our 2021 & 2022 schedules like crazy!!! We have also been working on our YouTube channel!
We are currently working on some fun "product review" videos. We thought it only fitting that our first review be of... wait for it... a STIHL chainsaw! But not just any STIHL chainsaw... we're talking about their battery powered chainsaws, the MSA 200 C.
I know... I know... We obviously love STIHL... so you may think we're a little biased...
I promise you - we are not!

It's Father's Day weekend! During a pandemic and quarantine and a time of social distancing...
We truly hope that most of you are able to celebrate with your families this weekend.
We want to say a huge "Happy Father's Day!" to all the Dads out there...

I probably never would have found my love of logging sports if it hadn't been for my Dad...

Owning and running the AxeWomen business had been a dream of mine for years before it ever actually came to be. As many of you know, owning your own business is awesome! It is also terrifying and so much more work than some people ever imagine. Unlike someone at a 9 to 5 job, business owners don't just get to walk away at the end of the day or take weekends off....and that is the case with AxeWomen! We eat, sleep & breathe our businesses!
If we aren't at a competition or a show, we are working our butts off... repairing stuff, painting stuff, scheduling 3 years ahead, updating the website, catching up on bills that have come in while we've been on the road or just thinking about how we can improve things for the following season! Waking up in the middle of the night, remembering that one thing you forgot to do last Tuesday.... or the email you forgot to reply back to!
Never dull.... And I wouldn't trade it for anything!!!

There have been a lot of different people & businesses that have helped us out along the way. (More than I could ever really list in a single blog post.)
But I'm going to start telling you about these awesome people...

A blogger who's a logger is now a jogger...

This is turning out to be a very different summer than usual for us...
We should have already been to a competition or two... We should have been on the road performing AxeWomen shows at several different venues across the country by now... Which also means that we should have been chopping and crosscut sawing at least four logs per day and getting a good amount of logrolling in!!
This has not happened, and it doesn't look like it's going to. So how are we going to stay in shape??
Yes... I do have logs I can chop, as well as all the chopping stands and axes... I have logrolling logs and, living near the ocean means I have plenty of water to roll in. And Mike and I do enjoy our after-dinner backyard axe throwing competitions!
But chopping in our yard isn't quite the same as chopping against other competitors in front of a cheering crowd...  Being a competitive person makes this season especially difficult...

When I started up the AxeWomen business I knew that there would be traveling involved... what I didn't expect were all the amazing adventures we'd be having along the way!!
Growing up I had always dreamed of being able to drive across the US, coast to coast, one day...
Little did I know that eventually these awesome driving adventures would be part of my job, and that (most years) I would get to drive coast to coast several times!!
Our shows and competitions are usually pretty scattered across North America...

Paws for just a moment...

Hi guys, Pete here....
Mom asked if I'd like to try my paw at blogging and tell you about my role here in the AxeWomen business.
I joined this team 4 1/2 years ago. That's about the same time that Mom & Dad adopted me. (I bet some of you didn't realize it, but, yep, I'm adopted.)
Before I moved in with Mom & Dad, I had already done some traveling on my own... I was born down south, in Georgia... then traveled all the way up to New England! Traveling was in my blood!

Clearly this summer is going to look different than most... "Social distancing," "self-quarantine" & my favorite, "the new normal..." are all things we definitely were not expecting to be planning for!
But here we are, a few months into it now. Kids are wrapping up the last few days of their home schooling and "virtual learning," and summer seems to have officially started...

Last September I took the opportunity to do something that had never been done before... Logroll across the Mississippi River!!

It all started exactly 1 year earlier. Mike & I were making our way back east after performing in Nebraska at the Missouri River Outdoor Expo. When we have the time we really enjoy stopping to see things off the beaten path (like the world's largest fire hydrant, the Spook Lights of Missouri, the Jolly Green Giant & his nephew, Sprout) and that sometimes leads to other adventures!

With the world being a little bit different this summer than usual, I thought I'd try something new....

Owning and running the AxeWomen business gives us the opportunity to do so many things we love.... Traveling, competing in logging sports, and making awesome friendships and connections along the way! (Just to name a few!)

Since we can't be out on the road much this summer, I want to make sure we don't lose those connections with our fans and friends!

So.... (drum roll, please).... Please bear with me as I dive into the world of blogging!
