Going where no dog has gone before, and marking everything along the way...

Hi guys, Pete here....
Mom asked if I'd like to try my paw at blogging and tell you about my role here in the AxeWomen business.
I joined this team 4 1/2 years ago. That's about the same time that Mom & Dad adopted me. (I bet some of you didn't realize it, but, yep, I'm adopted.)
Before I moved in with Mom & Dad, I had already done some traveling on my own... I was born down south, in Georgia... then traveled all the way up to New England! Traveling was in my blood!

Being the only Plott hound on the team means that I have a lot of roles to fill! When we're out on the road at shows I am the official picker-outer of mom's chopping logs. I also need to check out the entire log pile daily, sniffing each log to make sure they're all safe. (You never know when pesky squirrels might try to hide acorns in there!) I am also the official temperature checker of the log rolling pool. (The ladies hate cold water!)
I am the taste tester for the team's food, a security guard if a stranger gets too close and I supply emotional support if anyone needs a furry neck to hug while away from home. I do a little modeling on the side, as well... It's true... STIHL and Carolina Boots have used me on their social media pages... I'm on the website for Napier Outdoors... and I've appeared in an international logging magazine!
I am a busy guy.
Most of the ladies on the team will fly to shows around the country... That leaves all the driving of the truck & trailer to me, Mom and Dad. Luckily, we are all good travelers together. Usually Mom & Dad ride up front and I stretch out across the backseat until they need me. Then they will wake me up... sometimes at rest areas just to walk around... sometimes at hotels to make sure the room is safe before we unpack the truck... I love hotels! I always get to pick out my bed first... the rooms are full of interesting smells... sometimes I get cookies from the nice people at the front desk... and hotel breakfasts are amazing!!! Dad usually brings me scrambled eggs and bacon after I've kept us all safe at night!

Since I've been working with the AxeWomen I've gotten to see a lot of the world... I've been to (or at least driven through) most of the states in the US. We've driven coast to coast several times (I love, love, LOVE the Jersey Shore!!) I've even become an international traveler! That's right! I have dipped my toes in the Bay of Fundy!

One of the most important things that I get to do, as part of the AxeWomen team, is to give back to an organization that helped me out in my younger days. As I said earlier, I was born in Georgia... but somehow I ended up living on the streets of Atlanta with my brothers & sisters... things were hard... it was scary... sadly, most of my family didn't make it through...
But, thankfully, we must have had a guardian angel looking out for us. We got scooped up off a busy street one day and shown that not all people were mean and scary... We were helped, cleaned up, fed, and had arrangements made for us to travel north where we had foster homes waiting.
"New England Lab Rescue" is what these guardian angels call themselves... Saving dogs like me, off the streets, or rescuing dogs from scary animal shelters where they have a "time limit" as to how long they can stay... Somehow these people find loving homes and families to take us all in.
A few years ago, Mom thought that if I was willing to tell my story it might somehow help out more dogs like me.
So... at each AxeWomen show I come out about halfway through... Dad and I tell the audiences a little bit about my story and about how I was helped... At the end of each show we have certificates (that I personally pawtograph) that we give to people who make donations... Mom & Dad carefully collect their donations, and at the end of each summer we give all the money (plus some of my allowance that I save up) to help rescue other dogs with stories like mine. Last fall the money that we collected and donated went right to saving a mom and her 5 puppies that had been rescued during a hurricane down south!!

So... that's a little bit about my job here at the AxeWomen show...
I'll ask Mom if I can blog again sometime. I have lots of adventures I'd love to tell you about!
